In the past several months I’ve been fortunate to have many awesome experiences all because of writing this blog. Foremost is having the film and television rights optioned by ABC. That was quite a ride. Then I wrote my book: Snarky in the Suburbs Back to School. I loved every minute of writing it. For someone who tends to be, shall we say, long-winded the book was a perfect excuse for me to go into turbo blab mode. Now, a couple of other fun things have happened and I can’t wait to share them with you – which I will do tomorrow.
Right now, I want to thank all of you for embracing Snarky in the Suburbs. I started writing the blog because I had just moved almost 2,000 miles away from some of the best friends a person could ever ask for (Nan, Amy, Rayann, Chandra, I’m talking about you.) and I was terminally lonely, the kind of lonely where your heart hurts. All it took was one blog post for me to make many, many new friends. All of you have been wonderful and so supportive. I’m not exaggerating when I tell it’s been life affirming. Say what you will about the evils of social media, but in my case it has been an amazing, almost magical thing.
I’m excited about what this year will bring. I’ve already started writing Snarky in the Suburbs Two Weeks in Texas which will have Wynn (Snarky) going back home for a visit where she ends up doing what she does best causing mayhem, this time with her mother along for the ride. You know everything is bigger in Texas, including the crazies.
More important than any of these Snarky coming attractions is the gratitude I owe all of you. I want to say thank you for being part of my journey and would it be over the top to say a part of my extended family? Even though I have not met hardly anyone of you, you are in my head. Call it Facebook or blog comment schizophrenia, but I will see something and I’ll think, “Oh wow, I wish Suburban Haiku was here to comment up on this or Abby Ray, Danelle Holt, Todd Winbolt and Julie Tadlock.” I couldn’t pick any of these people out in a crowd, but they have added to my life and I am very thankful – not just for them, but for all of you! It’s very good to have such great friends.
Much Love, Snarky
